Through the decades, SAJE has become well known for developing new models for equitable development and urban land use.

Our researchers analyze socioeconomic systems and structures to uncover the ways housing policy and land use decisions are affecting the daily lives of Los Angeles residents. In the process, they’re proposing bold solutions for fighting displacement, including codifying tenant protections, pushing for affordable and accessible housing through community land trusts and other models, and ensuring new construction is attached to concrete and measurable community benefits.
